WASP-121b, discovered in 2015 by SuperWASP, is a Hot Jupiter ~1.8 times Jupiter’s size orbiting an F-type star every 1.3 days. Dayside temps over 4,500°F (2,500°C) vaporize metals—iron rains on the nightside, and tides warp it egg-shaped.

JWST detected escaping atmosphere in 2022—doomed to destruction in millions of years.

This extreme world shows how tides and heat can destroy planets.
